A story is told in The Four Winds Mastery of Time Class about a woman who left her successful career high up in the world of banking because she felt she was not on her right path. She searched for courses with meaning, and eventually came upon The Four Winds Shamanic training. This felt right for her, and she went though the seven classes, and then started taking the master classes.
In the Mastery of Time class, she was re-introduced to the idea that time comes in two forms. In the western world, we think of time as an arrow, going from the past, through the present and into the future, one direction only. In the indigenous world, time is perceived as a circle, or a wheel, and the shaman can step on or off at any part of the circle. Legend and lore has it that our future self can influence our past self, and the woman who had been a banker realized that her future self, the person sitting in the classroom, had gone back to her past self, the banker, and hauled her out of the banking world and into the shamanic one. True story.
Well, about 10 years ago, we had seen a wonderful lamp in a store in Toronto, enamel patterns of red, blue and green on the base. It was so wonderful, we had to have it. And last week, we realized after all these years that it is covered in Chakanas, the Peruvian symbol for the directions! We bought it then, directed by our future selves, and it hauled us onto this path of service and shamanism. Everyday things that inspire us, without our conscious knowing.
