That was Quite a Storm
2014-01-19
It is mildly amusing that the ice storm which forced us to cancel the Solstice Celebration did indeed cast a lack of light in its wake. We were without power for 5 days, getting to fully embrace the darkness and firelight for that time.
Many tree friends were pruned by the ice, which was over an inch thick in places. Altogether an impressive demonstration of nature's power. We are still cleaning up branches!
You can see the thickness of the ice on the branches. Several huge forked branches got hooked up on our hydro lines, and you can see the scorch marks on the branches. At one point so much ice was falling off the trees hardhats were prudent attire.
Finally, the light returned at 6:17pm December 25th.
