Come and Celebrate Spring Equinox Friday March 21st.
2014-03-17
Join us to celebrate the Spring Equinox on Friday, March 21st at 7pm here on the land!
As people have done for thousands of years. we will be celebrating this day of Equal Day and Equal Night, equal light and equal dark, Ayni in nature. It is a time of ceremony, marking the beginning of a new season. In honor of the life cycles of renewal, it is a time for planting, energetically and physically. This Spring Equinox is also associated with the Goddess Oeastara, who was celebrated by the festival of Oeastre. Her symbols are eggs and rabbits, much abundance. Our abundance is in part due to the four elements, Earth, Air, Fire and Water.
The ceremony will honour the Four Elements inside ourselves and out in the world, and will be followed by a fire. Donations to the local food bank are welcome.
The photo below is wild leeks. Once these start to show, we know spring is really here.
(The actual date of the Spring Equinox this year is Thursday March 20th for all of the fans of Astronomical accuracy).
