Temple of the Falcon, Pisaq
2012-07-07
This temple and fortress on a plateau high above Pisac takes about two hours to climb up a pathway with breathtaking views over the Urubamba Valley. Caracaras (Falcons), sweep the skies around you. There are huge agricultural terraces which sweep around the mountainsides.
There are outcroppings of carved stones and walls on cliff sides which plunge hundreds of feet, bringing and appreciation of the Inca stonemasons' skills. Marvel in turn at working fountains, walls, windows and doorways, stones that seem carved like furniture, and the Inti Huatana, Hitching Post of the Sun and the ever present chicana symbol, here showing the three levels of the Lower, Middel and Upper Worlds rises out of the ground.
The energy just shimmers out of the ground here, you feel the presence of the beings of light, the Incas, through time to now.
